The Planters nut brand is set for major overhaul, with a 14-strong range and a new look coming to UK shelves shortly.
The new range will get a phased launch in Asda first, and will then roll out to other retailers from July. It’s the second major UK initiative for the Kraft portfolio since the Kraft Heinz merger in July 2015.
The revived Planters will be positioned as a healthy snacking option, with a core selection of Lightly Salted Peanuts, Dry Roasted, Salted Cashews, and Salted Peanut & Nut Mix. A collection of ‘full-on-flavour’ peanuts will also be available, in Chilli & Lime, Honey Roast, and Peri Peri.
The two line-ups will be joined by Planters Health selection - Energy Mix (almonds, chocolate-covered honeycomb, Brazil nuts, walnuts and peanuts), Health Mix (peanuts, cashews, almonds and cranberries), and Protein Mix (peanuts, redskin peanuts, cashews and almonds) - along with Planters Trail Mix in Nut and Chocolate, Fruit & Nut, and Nuts, Seeds & Raisins.
The final addition is standalone product Planters Breakfast Mix, designed to be part of a morning meal.
Pack sizes for the line-up range from 40g to 270g, with rsps from 99p to £2.79. They all feature the brand’s Mr Peanut character and the strapline ‘Deliciously Nut-tricious’.
Kraft Heinz hoped to establish Planters as a leader in the healthy snacking category, said Matt Mill, senior brand manager.
