Tesco has stepped up its bid to rival online giant Amazon - by ramping up the number of third party sellers on its Tesco.com site by 50% since the summer.
The retailer, which said it was signing up new names weekly, now has nearly 50 sellers on its Sellers at Tesco site, while the number of products available from third-party sources currently stands at more than 260,000.
The latest additions to Tesco’s third-party seller line-up are a range of jewellery sellers offering watches, rings, bracelets, earrings and necklaces the first time on its website.
These include The Watch Warehouse, Avalaya, JewelCo, Moissanite, The Jewel Hut and Willis Judd.
Tesco launched its marketplace site in April last year, with just a handful of third-party sellers including electronics supplier Maplin and garden products company Crocus in the initial line-up.
Recently, it launched a Delivered by Tesco click & collect service on behalf of third-party sellers, in a bid to increase uptake by suppliers.
Other brands featured on the Sellers at Tesco site include Mamas & Papas, Yamaha and Mountain Warehouse.
