Confectioner Swizzels Matlow is hedging its bets when it comes to the royal baby – its factory is geared up to produce both ‘It’s a Boy’ and ‘It’s a Girl’ Love Heart sweets.
Production lines are ready to run with either blue Royal Prince or pink Royal Princess sweets depending on the sex of the child. Each Love Heart carries the slogan ‘Royal baby’.
Derbyshire-based Swizzels Matlow produced commemorative Royal wedding Love Hearts for William and Kate’s wedding, as well as special Love Hearts for Princess Diana when she visited the factory in 1990.
“We want fans to join us and celebrate the birth of the Royal baby,” said Swizzels Matlow MD Jeremy Dee. “We’re getting ready to produce celebratory Royal Prince or Princess Love Hearts. As soon as the baby is born we’ll be putting the right colour into production.” The Royal baby is due on 13 July.
Mini rolls of Royal baby Love Hearts will be available for a limited period from the Love Hearts website at £14.99 per box of 20.
