IFE 2013 ended on Wednesday, following a raft of new product announcements in different sectors. Here we run through some of the drinks launches that caught our eye.

West Coast self-chilling energy drink
US brand West Coast has launched an energy drink that chills itself. Pushing the button on the underside of the 500ml can activates patented thermodynamic technology contained in an inner container that causes the drink to chill to around 7C in three minutes.
The drink, which contains no sugar or caffeine, is fortified with vitamin and herbs, and sweetened with citrus and stevia (275ml finished product inside a 500ml can). It is also available in regular 248ml format.
Victoria’s Kitchen almond water
Importer Empire Food Brokers is expanding its offering under US almond water brand Victoria’s Kitchen with two new flavours - coconut and liquorice mint.
Almond Water is made with natural ingredients and no artificial colours or flavours, and is described as “an extremely refreshing, all-natural soft drink with a decadent and unique taste”. The new flavours combine the traditional aspect of Almond Water with the tropical flavour of coconut, or refreshing mint and bold liquorice. “These unique flavours will be a first for the soft drinks sector,” said Empire Food Brokers MD Chandresh Patel.
Melt Water
Lithuanian brand Melt Water is targeting the UK with a water product made using a production method based on natural glacier formation and thawing. The company claims its process allows it to remove any harmful elements and impurities, and bottle water that is “absolutely clean”.
“With the growing numbers of people interested in healthy foods and beverages – and more customers concerned with what they consume – Melt Water is quickly finding a niche,” said the supplier.
New Belvoir flavours
Speciality drinks brand Belvoir has rolled out five new flavours for the summer. There are two cordials: rhubarb & strawberry and blueberry & blackcurrant (rrp £3.00 for 50cl); along with three new pressés: cherry (rrp £1.75 for 25cl), cranberry & raspberry, and an elderflower & rose pressé, which has already been listed in 295 Sainsbury’s (rrp £2.29 for 75cl). The latter are set to hit shelves on 1 April.
