Former Loseley and Rachel’s Organic boss Neil Burchell has been named chairman of Welsh distiller Penderyn.
Burchell is currently MD of speciality cheese producer Futura Foods. He spent eight years at the helm of Rachel’s and a year at Loseley before the ice cream maker was sold in 2011.
“Penderyn has done a tremendous job putting Wales on the map for whisky production,” said Burchell.
“Connoisseurs recognise Penderyn as a great whisky in its own right, rather than simply being a Welsh novelty, but this message isn’t yet shared by everyone. We aim to reinforce the message that Penderyn is a world-class whisky.”
Penderyn single malt was launched in 2004 and currently has listings with all the UK’s major supermarkets, selling a quarter of a million bottles a year.
