A garden centre and fine food business owned by Judith Price, the wife of Waitrose boss Mark Price, has gone under after losing money for eight consecutive years.
Papers filed by administrators at RSM Tenon for JHL Flower Shops and JHL West Wycombe Garden Centre, which both traded as Plant & Harvest, revealed Mrs Price kept the business going despite it recording a loss in every year since she established it with Catherine Hillier in 2003.
Although repositioning the business as “garden inspiration and speciality food” reduced losses, the owners were no longer in a position to fund the company. The two businesses owed unsecured creditors £86,600.
