Speedy slow cooking. Pulled pork is a hot favourite of the US low and slow BBQ movement. Quite what the kings of the grill will make of Hillshire Brands’ microwaveable frozen pretzel roll stuffed with pulled pork in a chipotle BBQ sauce ($2.50/£1.62) is another matter.

The Oompa Loompas have done it again. Recent innovation from the Wonka factory is this ‘fantabulous’ vanilla grape flavoured treat. It can be peeled like a banana and at $4.29 (£2.78) for a pack of eight it’s an exciting treat for little monkeys, says the brand.
