Calypso Soft Drinks has completed a deal to acquire cult ice lolly brand Mr Freeze.
Calypso has acquired Mr Freeze from Irish confectionery group Zed Candy, which also makes brands including Jawbreakers and Fizz Bombs.
The acquisition comes as part of a drive by Calypso to broaden its reach into new European markets, with production of the Mr Freeze line set to move to the Calypso factory in Wrexham.
“This is a long-term, strategic move for our business as we plan to expand and develop our trade within Continental Europe for our strong portfolio of brands,” said Calypso chief executive Peter Cooke.
“Mr Freeze is a great cult brand in many European countries and it naturally complements our Calypso range.”
