Tesco lost an estimated £10,000 at one of its filling stations last week after undercharging shoppers by 67p per litre.
For six days, shoppers paid just 40p a litre because of a pricing error at a petrol pump in Milton, Cambridgeshire.
The retailer only corrected the price when it heard what was happening on local radio. "This was a technical fault at the pump and an engineer has now rectified the problem," said a Tesco spokesman. He would not reveal how much Tesco lost, but a retail source estimated it would have cost around £10,000 in sales.
