Heinz has launched reduced salt versions of its Classic canned soups to meet a growing demand for lower-salt products.
The four-strong Heinz Classic Reduced Salt range consists of Cream of Tomato, Cream of Chicken, Cream of Mushroom and Vegetable all containing 25% less salt than the standard recipes (rsp: 79p per 400g can).
The entire Heinz Soup range is already within the FSA’s salt target for 2010, but the new soups would “offer choice for consumers who are more health conscious,” said the company, adding that the new soups would bring incremental sales to the category.
“The Classic range and the Classic Reduced Salt range will work to enhance Heinz’s overall soups offering,” said soup brand manager Jennie Chubb.
The new soups, available now, feature front-of-pack flashes highlighting the reduced salt levels.
