Aldi has donated 10,000 activity books to charities to help keep kids entertained in the school holidays.
The books contain games, activities and recipe ideas for children. They have been donated to charities across the UK to be shared with families in need nationwide.
Aldi is also donating a selection of snacks to accompany the books.
It is part of the discounter’s work with its redistribution partner, Neighbourly, which provides surplus food from stores for charities throughout the year.
The latest initiative follows research by Neighbourly which found 89% of local causes had seen increasing demand for activities for children in the last year. Some 94% of local causes agreed the cost of living crisis was impacting children’s access to books and toys.

“We want to support local communities in any way we can, and we hope these activity books will help to keep children entertained over the school holidays,” said Aldi UK corporate responsibility director Liz Fox.
Neighbourly CEO Steve Butterworth said: “The cost of living crisis is creating financial pressure for many families. Aldi’s additional donations will go a long way to putting a smile on children’s faces over the February half-term.”
Aldi’s partnership with Neighbourly has seen 30 million meals donated to good causes since launching in 2019, according to the discounter. It is set to see thousands more meals given to local charities, food banks and community groups over the school half-term holiday.
It hit the 30 million meal milestone after Aldi donated a £250,000 ‘Emergency Winter Foodbank Fund’ to Neighbourly ahead of the Christmas period.
