The sell: VK claims to have bottled the taste of student-favourite cocktail Cheeky Vimto in this 4% abv drink
The consumer
The product has a simple and stylish appearance that would fit in well with other alcopops but would probably not stand out. The taste is too sweet for me to drink more than one and I cannot imagine myself or my mates switching from our usual bottle of beer to this. However, it has a refreshing Vimto flavour that covers the taste of the vodka well and, combined with its fruity aroma, I can see how it would appeal to others. Three stars (out of five)

VK Cheeky is a secondary, me-too product that appears to have been created to ride on the wake of the recent success of WKD Purple. As with the rest of the VK RTD range, it offers a refreshing drink albeit slightly too sweet for my liking that does resemble the on-trade Cheeky Vimto mix. Whether the "purple" craze is here to stay remains to be seen but, for the time being, not a bad addition to the existing VK range. Three stars

I drank this with ice while barbecuing outside in the sunshine, and it was a perfect match. It was light, fruity and not overly sweet like a lot of alcopops it was really just like drinking a soft drink. There is a gentle hint of vodka and a little caffeine kick one bottle contains about the same amount as a can of coke. I really enjoyed it, although I think pouring it over ice on a hot sunny day made a big difference. Four stars
