From Ostrich Eggs to protein chocolate, here are the new seasonal innovations to hunt out in stores this Easter
KitKat Chunky Lotus Biscoff Giant Egg
Launch date: February 2022 Manufacturer: Nestlé
Consumers can have their first taste of the “hotly anticipated” Kit Kat Chunky Lotus Biscoff, set to launch later this year, in this new addition to Nestlé’s Easter range (rsp: £7.49/274.5g). Hotel Chocolat Patisserie Ostrich Easter Egg
Launch date: January 2022 Manufacturer: Hotel Chocolat
Hotel Chocolat has made its classic Ostrich Easter Egg even more indulgent with this patisserie version, containing dessert-inspired chocolates. The “lavishly thick” shell – filled with the likes of Salted Caramel Brownie, Chocolate Macaron and Blondie chocolates – is unashamedly decadent, with a price tag to match (rsp: £85/1,095g). Plus, vegans needn’t miss out. Hotel Chocolat has brought out a Vegan Ostrich Egg using nut milk, “filled with irresistible vegan truffles, pralines and caramels”.
Prodigy Salted Caramel Chocolate Egg
Launch date: February 2022 Manufacturer: Prodigy
Containing less than half the sugar of a typical filled egg and no refined sugar, Prodigy’s Salted Caramel Chocolate Egg is a more virtuous choice for shoppers this Easter. Not only that, but the vegan egg is high in fibre, palm oil free and ‘plastic negative’, meaning the brand “removes ten ocean bound plastic wrappers from the environment for every egg sold”. The product lands in Holland & Barrett from the end of February (rsp: £1.29/40g) and will also be available from the Prodigy website (rsp: £7.50/6 eggs).
Maltesers Orange Button Chocolate Egg
Launch date: February 2022 Manufacturer: Mars

Vegan confectionery is set to be big this Easter, and free-from brand Nomo is launching three products to mark the occasion: a Cookie Dough Bunny, Cookie Dough Easter Egg and Nomsters Kids egg and lolly. This Cookie Dough bunny (rsp: 80p/30g) is its “hero product”, designed to tap the “huge opportunity” in vegan novelties.
Bounty Giant Chocolate Egg
Launch date: February 2022 Manufacturer: Mars
Landing exclusively in Tesco this year is a giant Bounty Easter egg, which features coconut pieces embedded in a milk chocolate shell (rsp: £12/494g). The egg also comes with one milk and one dark chocolate Bounty bar.
Happi White Raspberry Easter Egg and Chocolate Bunny Lollies
Launch date: January 2022 Manufacturer: Happi
Oat milk chocolate brand Happi is adding two vegan innovations to its range this year. The products are available from Amazon and the Happi website.
Myprotein Hotel Chocolat Egg
Launch date: March 2022 Manufacturer: Myprotein
Sports nutrition brand Myprotein has partnered with Hotel Chocolat to launch a limited-edition protein chocolate Easter egg. The 78% dark chocolate egg comes with two Layered Protein Bars. It is available for order from Myprotein now with a launch date of 1 March (rsp: £19.99/270g).
Cadbury Dairy Milk Orange Mini Chocolate Eggs

Divine Chocolate eggs
Launch date: February 2022 Manufacturer: Divine Chocolate
Fairtrade chocolatier Divine has a pair of new eggs for Easter 2022. The first is a Luxury Smooth Milk Chocolate Egg with Salted Caramel (rsp: £10/260g), which is studded with sea salt and crunchy butterscotch toffee and stocked at Ocado and Waitrose. The second is a Vegan Luxury 70% Dark Chocolate Egg with Dark Mini Easter Eggs (rsp: £10/260g), which is available at Ocado. The brand has also removed the plastic tamper seal from all of its egg boxes this year, making them 100% plastic free.
Lindor Salted Caramel Egg
Launch date: February 2022 Manufacturer: Lindt
Lindt is launching a Salted Caramel flavour Lindor egg exclusively into Tesco this Easter (rsp: £15/348g). As well as a milk chocolate shell egg, the product includes a selection of Lindor Truffles with a salted caramel filling.
Hip Salted Caramel Oat Milk Chocolate Egg
Launch date: February 2022 Manufacturer: Hip
As well as being made from slavery free, single origin chocolate and sold in plastic free packaging, Hip’s Salted Caramel Oat Milk Chocolate Easter Egg (rsp: £7.50/150g) promises 30% less sugar than the average milk chocolate Easter egg. The vegan product has just gone on sale in Ocado and will also be available from Getir, Liberty and the Hip website.
Moo Free range
Launch date: February 2022 Manufacturer: Moo Free
A trio of dairy, gluten and soya free products is joining Moo Free’s Easter range this year. Available on the brand’s website, the Moofreesas Organic Easter Egg (rsp: £5.99/185g), features a hollow ‘milk’ chocolate egg and a bag of chocolate coated malt balls. This will be joined by Moo Free’s first white egg, the White Bunnycomb Crunch Easter Egg (rsp: £5.99/185g) and an Easter Egg Hunt Kit (rsp: £3/56g), which will both be stocked in Asda from March.
Love Cocoa eggs
Launch date: March 2022 Manufacturer: Love Cocoa
Ethical chocolate brand Love Cocoa, created by the great-great-great grandson of John Cadbury, is launching a pair of new eggs this year. They are a Giant Milk Chocolate Luxury Egg with Salted Caramel Truffles (rsp: £29.95-£36/500g) and a Luxury Half & Half with Salted Caramel Truffles (rsp: £25/300g). Both eggs will be stocked in Liberty and Fenwick’s from March, with the former also landing in Ocado.
