From terrifying teas to spooky sweets, here are all the food & drink products landing in time for Halloween
Bird & Blend Spooky Countdown Tea Calendar
Who says countdown calendars are just for advent? Clearly not independent tea company Bird & Blend, which has unveiled its own Halloween version (rsp: £52). The pop-up calendar, which comes in a creepy graveyard design, features 13 tombstone-shaped boxes, each containing a seasonal treat. These include autumnal tea blends, Spooky Sprinkles and tins of chai and matcha in a range of flavours. The calendar is available to pre-order online from 21 August before going on sale from 1 October.
Bear Halloween Yoyo
Bear is giving two flavours of its fruit yoyos a Halloween makeover. Bewitched Blackcurrant and Spooktacular Strawberry (rsp: £1.25/3x20g) will hit retailers in August, with each yoyo qualifying as one of a child’s five a day. The new snacks are “perfect for trick or treating” claims Bear, pointing to the collectable “special creepy cards” in every pack.
The Black Madonna digestivo
Pesto brand Sacla’ is promising to “delight or disgust” drinkers this Halloween by bringing a different type of Italian product to the UK: a “thick, black and truly intense” digestivo. Madonna Nera – or The Black Madonna – is named after a painting in the maker’s family church in Positano, which appears on the label. The 25% abv drink is made from the juice of the licorice root and is best served straight from the freezer, when it is “icy cold, thick and almost chewy”, according to Sacla’. It is available to buy from the brand’s website from September (rsp: £40/500ml).
Haribo Halloween Trio
Haribo’s five new SKUs for Halloween will land on shelves in August. Haribo Sour Skeletons offers “a unique sour bite”, coming in Lemon & Lime, Blood Orange & Pineapple and Cherry & Blackcurrant (rsp: £1/160g). Monsters Z!ng, meanwhile, promises “the perfect hit of sweet and sour” via four monster shapes in apple, blackcurrant, lemon and blood orange (rsp: £1/160g). And Maoam Pinballs Halloween feature a “zingly, tingly centre” across apple, orange and blackcurrant chewies (rsp: £1/140g).
Holy Lama Pumpkin Spice Drops
Designed to add the beloved autumnal flavour to cooking, baking and hot drinks, Holy Lama’s Pumpkin Spice Drops land on Amazon and the Holy Lama website from September (rsp: £5.50/5ml). Compared to powdered and dried spices, which can lose their flavour in a matter of weeks, the liquid spice drops promise to “retain their intensity for three years”, says the brand. Each bottle contains approximately 150 drops, with two drops equivalent to 1/5 of a teaspoon of powdered spices.
Barratt Favourites recyclable tub
Consumers will be well prepared to greet trick or treaters with this variety tub from Barratt, which contains individually wrapped Dip Dab, Wham, Black Jack, Highland Toffee, Refreshers, Shrimps & Bananas, and Fruit Salad lollies and chews. It is made with 85% less plastic than its predecessors and is suitable for household recycling (rsp: £3.50/500g). It will launch into Morrisons and Sainsbury’s in September.
Moo Free Halloween Duo
Free-from brand Moo Free is launching two chocolate treats for Halloween. Fizzy Boo Bar is white chocolate featuring fizzy popping candy, due to roll into Tesco in September (rsp: 60p/20g). Spooky Chums will be available at Asda, containing a “spooky surprise” alongside the choccie bar (rsp: 40p/15g).
Bacardi glow in the dark bottles
Bacardi is aiming to be the tipple of choice at Halloween parties by adding limited edition bottles for its Spiced and Carta Blanca rums. As well as featuring a bat pattern, which plays on the spookiness of the brand’s logo, the labels also glow in the dark. The bottles will be available at all major supermarkets from mid-September (rsp: £17/70cl).
Bebeto Spooky Mix
Vegan and halal certified confectionery brand Bebeto is adding a Spooky Mix to its growing range of Halloween sweets (rsp: £1/150g). The gummies come in an assortment of Halloween shapes and fruit flavours, including blackcurrant, apple, orange, and strawberry. They will be stocked in Asda’s seasonal aisle from 26 September to 31 October.
