For Brits that are already feeling festive, this Sunday (28 November) will hold special significance. It’s Christmas Tree Day: the traditional date when consumers can bring their tree home and start decorating for Christmas. Usually falling four Sundays before the big day to mark the start of Advent, the event is earlier than usual this year, which is all the more reason to celebrate. Here are five examples of food & drink activity perfectly timed for the occasion

Côte at Home Deck the Halls box

French restaurant chain Côte is offering a series of finish-at-home experience boxes this Christmas, each tailored to a different festive occasion. While The Nights Before Christmas and Betwixtmas are also catered for, the first box, Deck the Halls, is designed specifically for Christmas Tree Day. As well as a meal for four people, the box contains a selection of chocolate tree decorations and an exclusive decoration guide created by interiors stylist Sandra Baker, which shows customers how to create this year’s most fashionable Christmas tree looks. Once the decorating is done, diners can sit down to a three-course feast, consisting of salmon rilletes to start, followed by beef bourguignon with creamy mash and minted peas and a dessert of chocolate profiteroles. There is also the option of adding specially paired drinks to the meal, including Negroni cocktails, fleurie and cremant.

Montezuma’s chocolate Christmas trees

Douglas Fir, Balsam Fir, non-drop, artificial… there are a whole host of Christmas tree types to choose from. But this year there’s a less conventional option entering the fray: chocolate. Handcrafted by Montezuma’s chocolatier Caitlin Paxton, these 1.6kg solid chocolate trees are made from a blend of milk, dark and white chocolate, and are hand finished with gold leaf. Just like the real thing, each of the chocolate trees is unique, making them a special centrepiece for any festive table. The trees have just landed on the Montezuma’s website (rsp: £99.99).
