Sweet-toothed consumers continue to contribute to the rising price of cocoa butter, up almost 50% year-on-year. Growing demand for chocolate, particularly in Asia, is the main cause, according to Mintec.

Closer to home, the warm weather has caused a drop in electricity prices by almost a quarter year on year, and has contributed to the decline in the price of feed wheat, with the good conditions boosting supply. Feed wheat is also under pressure from the competitive price of maize, down due to expectations of a bumper US crop this autumn.
