Chad Burke, confectionery buyer, Tesco
Tesco has shaken up its confectionery buying team recently, moving Burke across from soft drinks to confectionery in June. Also new to the sweet patch is Andrew Lusher, a former chef who swapped his previous role as Tesco buyer for grocery, stocks, herbs and spices for a gig as Tesco buying manager for chocolate in May.
Emma Murphy, confectionery buyer, Selfridges
Murphy has had a busy 2014, with Selfridges revamping large parts of its confectionery hall offering. Among the most eye-catching initiatives was the launch of a Chocolate Library in partnership with Trebuchet, featuring over 400 alphabetically arranged chocolate bars from around the world overseen by a ‘chocarian’ giving expert buying advice.
Clare Marchant, confectionery buyer for The BuyCo
Marchant was a confectionery buyer for Palmer and Harvey before the business joined forces with Costcutter to set up a buying group called The BuyCo, which makes purchases on behalf of both companies. Among other things, Marchant’s role involves sourcing new products – she is currently working on NPD projects for the Easter programme for 2015 – and the day-to-day management of each of the confectionery suppliers. She also oversees the maintenance and agreement of supplier terms and cost price negotiation.
