Harris Teeter has come a long way in the past decade. Always considered an upscale operator, the retailer has worked hard to make its fresh foods and store brands even more appealing, adding a new speciality food concept store called 201 Central last year. Founded more than 70 years ago in Charlotte, North Carolina, and now based in nearby Matthews, Harris Teeter operates more than 225 stores in nine states plus Washington DC.
