The coffee side is doing great but after a sustained growth period since its acquisition of Cadbury, confectionery sales are sluggish in the UK and across Barnard’s Northern European operations, which it’s blamed on “weak consumer confidence”. Bad press isn’t helping either. The decision to stop using Cadbury Dairy Milk in its Creme eggs dented sales by £10m.
