Price of oranges decreased slightly on last month, but are up by a tenth on last year following a 25% drop in Spanish production. The production fall came as a result of crop rotation and the impact of last winter’s heavy rainfall.
A good supply of Dutch onions in the UK market kept the prices low. Although the yield of UK onions has been good this season, the quality is lower than in previous years, slightly offsetting price falls.

High carrot stocks have contributed to a further dip in prices over the last month, as prices were weighed down further on last year’s levels to £318/tonne.
Though potato prices in the UK saw a slight increase over Christmas, prices are down more than 30% overall compared to the same period last year. This is a result of ample production.
