Hot beverages are hot stuff, with increased demand pushing up tea exports from Sri Lanka by 23.5% in June and bringing a 19.5% month-on-month price rise.
Meanwhile, Arabica coffee is continuing to increase as investors worry about supply from Brazil, the world’s largest producer, after a drought earlier this year damaged the current harvest.
Gas prices have increased month on month as a result of planned Ukraine sanctions on Russia, including transit of gas to the EU via its pipelines. Year-on-year prices continue to fall, however, due to good global supplies and low demand.
Forecasts for good wheat and maize crops have reduced the price of both cereals month-on-month and year-on-year.
