Sri Lankan tea prices have continued to climb in August due to adverse wet weather during the tea growing season, following an 8% increase from June to July. Heavy flooding and mudslides have hindered production and damaged processing factories.
The price of palm kernel oil has risen due to low carryover stocks alongside rising demand. This has driven exports down 11% year on year at 0.4 million tonnes between January and July - the lowest level in more than 10 years.
Large supplies of sunflower oil have pushed prices down after record carryover stocks from the 2016/17 season. Opening stocks for 2017/18 were forecast up 12% year on year to 16 million tonnes.
EU feed wheat prices have also fallen, pressured by lower prices on the US market.
