Since last February, Tesco lifer Reed has been running Tesco’s entire c-store operation. The move means Reed, who started out stacking shelves at Tesco aged 15, looks after some 2,750 Metro, Express and One Stop stores. And it’s going well.
One Stop hit triple-figure store numbers in the past year with mass recruitment of both franchise and company-owned stores, particularly across Scotland. The financial year saw 54 new company-owned store openings and sales up 17% on last year.
And although the heavy investment and expansion took its toll on profits, One Stop is set up for a much stronger future.
