Political unrest in Honduras, poor weather and heavy rainfall in Costa Rica and Guatemala, and interrupted transport facilities in Colombia, have all contributed to rising banana prices in the UK.
A small drop in Spanish orange production for the current season has caused prices to rise steadily.

UK onion yields and production rose last year, weighing down prices. The Netherlands, a major exporter to the UK, also had a good harvest in 2017, though the size of bulbs was generally smaller than expected, resulting in the Dutch imports becoming cheaper still.
Though potato prices rose slightly month on month, they remain lower year on year due to higher production. This is being driven by an increase in growing areas, currently up by around 5% on 2017.
Lettuce supplies from Spain have been limited by adverse weather, bumping up wholesale prices on last month.
