English growers are getting good results from a little known dessert apple variety called Tentation ­ a French registered name. As with many new varieties, sale of its rootstock is regulated, allowing a close check on plantings. The Grifer/Golden Delicious cross is already under trial in Kent and the West Midlands, and further afield from Europe has made the transition to South Africa.
