The Argento Wine Company has added two wines to its portfolio as part of a repositioning of its flagship brand.

The two new Argento wines, a 2006 Chardonnay and a 2005 Malbec, have been given a more premium price point than others in the range, with a price tag of £5.99.

General manager Amelia Nolan said: "By making these changes to our portfolio we are striving to meet our objectives to create the best possible branded wines from Argentina.

"We are working to ensure that Argento, and the Argentinian wine

category as a whole, grows to be more globally competitive."

Nolan said that the company had reassessed the Argento portfolio to help grow the brand.

"It allows us to develop the wines in quality terms by, for example, introducing fruit from higher-altitude vineyards."

The launch will be supported by an online and sampling programme in

the lead up to Christmas.
