Asda has opened its first convenience store in Scotland, which is promising to include 140 local lines from suppliers north of the border.
The new Asda on the Move store in Livingston is its 36th convenience store being run in partnership with the Issa brothers’ EG Group.
Asda said it was continuing to build its presence in roadside and neighbourhood locations.
The new store, with 2,500 lines in total, will also include a Leon self-serve coffee kiosk, one of only four in Scotland.
“The launch of our first Scottish Asda on the Move store is a milestone in our convenience journey, as we build on our strategy to bring essential Asda products to more convenient locations through our partnership with EG Group,” said Georgina Cokill, senior director for wholesale and convenience at Asda.
“Customers in Livingston can now benefit from our strengths in grocery retail alongside EG’s experience in creating a compelling convenience store offer that brings great-quality products and services together, to make it easier for customers to shop on the go.”
