Asda has revealed changes to its loyalty card app to give shoppers more time to spend their vouchers.
The supermarket is extending the period from one to three months, saying it wanted to give customers who like to build up their ‘Cashpots’ for special occasions longer to save.
It said more than three million customers were regularly using the app after its Asda Rewards loyalty programme was extended to all stores last October.
It revealed almost £20m worth of Asda Rewards vouchers were spent in store during December alone.
“We know that many Asda Rewards customers like to save up their Cashpots to spend at special occasions,” said Mark Baxter, Asda senior director of loyalty. “This change means they now have longer to use their rewards and importantly can build up even larger amounts to use whenever they choose.”
Meanwhile, more than two million Tesco customers have been reminded to spend more than £16m worth of Clubcard vouchers before they expire at the end of February.
