Asda has checked in the cheapest full basket so far for The Grocer 33's new look shopping list at £39.09. The chain provided two of this week's five full baskets while Sainsbury took the Storewatch title for its customer service. A better deal on apples saw Asda in Cramlington pip colleagues in Swanley by just 10p. Both stores reduced Budweiser by16p to bag this list's lowest basket price, previously held by Tesco at £39.28. Our shoppers found both Asdas hard to navigate as stacking trolleys and gondola ends caused congestion in the aisles, while country of origin was not easy to detect on the fruit and veg. The Swanley store is close to the town's main shopping centre and it took 15 minutes to find a space in the car park which is flagged up as free' for Asda customers. In Cheadle, Sainsbury's full basket cost £40.03 and the store impressed with its cleanliness and staff attitude to take the Storewatch crown. Our shopper noticed for the first time that the chain had a deal on two packs of its own label bacon while a free glass was on offer when two bottles of Diet Coke were bought. Morrisons' full list cost £40.11. Queues backed up the aisles as only 16 of 24 checkouts were open. The till operator failed to greet and mushrooms were charged at £2.99 per kilo instead of £2.40. The fifth full basket at the "modern, airy" Waitrose in Portishead cost £43.15. Tesco in Stowmarket racked up six out of stocks. Packs of Walkers were available in all flavours other than ready salted, while other variants of Fairy liquid were on shelf except our targeted original'. Staff did their best to track products down which added to the time spent in-store. {{INSIGHT }}
