Tesco has implemented a new logistics and point of sale solution for its bananas.
Developed by retail equipment supplier Wanzl, the wheeled Banana Cage is designed to keep fruit moving through the supply chain with minimal handling.
The Banana Cage is loaded with boxes of bananas at the fruit supplier’s distribution centre and is wheeled through Tesco’s own distribution network and delivered direct to the retailer’s stores without the boxes being touched.
The cage can be wheeled directly from store stock room to shopfloor and used as a point of sale dispensing unit.
