Pork Farms Bowyers, a Northern Foods subsidiary, has a new team at the top.
Charles Dawson, MD, has appointed Steve Corby as sales director and Gary Johnston as marketing director to deliver plans for further growth.
Johnston was promoted from within the business and Corby joined from Hazlewood Foods' chilled food operations.
Dawson says: "Gary will work closely with our retail partners to ensure Pork Farms provides the category expertise and support to strengthen its offerings in this sector.
"We will be investing heavily across the mix this year and we want to ensure that we maximise profit potential with the trade," Dawson adds.
On the basis of the groundwork which has already been done, Dawson says, the future of the company looks rosy. "Our market sectors are benefiting from consumer trends towards informal meal occasions and snacking and, with the correct insight, our brands can provide greater consumer relevance and category innovation."
The new team at the top was the last of several changes to the business over the past year. Dawson was general manager of Palethorpes before moving to become Pork Farms Bowyers managing director.
"During 2002, we withdrew from sausage production and van sales distribution in order to focus operations around our key competencies in chilled savoury snacks," he explains.
The relaunch of the Pork Farms brand last year led to growth rates in excess of 40% year-on-year, he says.
