Two food industry veterans have launched a new snacking brand, which they are pitching as an upmarket Phileas Fogg.

Dorset-based start-up company Mr Filbert's Fine Foods was launched last month by co-founders Mark Taylor a former buyer and marketing manager at Tesco and Paul Dooley, who has held senior positions at Allied Lyons Seafood and Twinings.

Mr Filbert's Inventive Snacks, which are described as an "upmarket adult range with an artisan restaurant feel", have won listings in Harvey Nichols, local delicatessens and farm shops. The entrepreneurs plan to roll out into "selected multiples" in the near future.

The six-strong range (rsp: between £1.65 and £3.89) includes Pomodora Peanuts and Tumble Roasted Cashew Nuts, and is predicted to generate between £1.5m and £2m by the end of 2012.
