Budgens is tightening its focus on price promotions with the appointment of Phil Punter to the newly-created role ofbuying controller.
While maintaining his role as senior buyer for fresh meat, poultry and fish, Punter will take responsibility for planning and executing Budgens' promotional pricing strategy.
He will coordinate the retailer's That's Value price promotion campaign with the marketing team and will oversee the instore focus on price promoted ranges.
Punter added: "I will pull together buyers proposals for promotions and create leaflets to send out to our customers. I am also involved in calculating the performance of promotions."
He has worked for the company for 25 years and gained wide experience of fresh food in buying.
Trading director Cliff Goodman said: "This newly-created role reflects the importance of our price promotional activity, which accounts for more than 15% of Budgens' business."
