Mondelez has cut the amount of packaging in its Cadbury share bags by 15%.
The “optimised” packs use less material but will contain the same number of treats as before, Mondelez stressed.
They have begun rolling out across Cadbury Giant Buttons, Caramel Nibbles and Bitsa Wispa large sharing bags.
The chocolate giant said the move would enable vehicles to carry a larger amount of products per journey, resulting in a 14% reduction in the number of trucks used.
The news marks the first in a series of moves planned in the UK to reduce or remove unnecessary packaging, said Mondelez.
