London startup Brave has added a Chocolate & Salted Caramel variant to its burgeoning range of roasted pea snacks – claiming it as a world first.
Made with British yellow peas and single-origin dark chocolate, the vegan-friendly NPD (rsp: £1.19/30g) offers 16.6g of protein per 100g. With 16g of sugar per 100g, it is has 50% less sugar than a typical pack of chocolate-coated nuts, according to Brave founders Amber and Seb Fraser-Sokol.
Chocolate & Salted Caramel will roll out to grocery from 28 January – aimed at “the 72% of Brits demanding healthier foods from their everyday shop”.
It is the brand’s fourth variant, joining Sea Salt, Paprika & Chilli and Sea Salt & Vinegar. The first two are listed in Sainsbury’s, where Brave is part of the supermarket’s Future Brands initiative, launched last spring to invest in and support more small suppliers.
The scheme looks for “distinctive brands” with the potential offer of listings, mentoring, free Nectar data and even equity stakes in return for exclusivity deals of up to 18 months.
