Spar is launching a trio of own-label spirits.
The symbol group has added a new French Grain Vodka (40% abv), a Rhubarb & Ginger Gin (40% abv) and a ‘standard-tier’ Dark Rum (37.5% abv), which Spar said would tap ongoing premiumisation in the spirits sector (rsp: £12.50 - £17.99/70cl).
It is also moving 70cl bottles of its premium gin to the same style as the Rhubarb & Ginger SKU, to “bring consistency to the range”.
The “relevant and modern” spirits would “help our retailers drive excitement in stores offering customers choice at all price points”, said Spark UK senior brand manager Amrit Rebello. “Our premium gin has a light and refreshing taste, while our new dark rum has been blended from rums distilled in the Caribbean using sugar cane molasses.”
The launch will be backed by a social media push, as well as PoS materials and spots on Spar radio.
Spar made its first foray into posh spirits with its first own-label London Dry Gin last year, which hit shelves in October. It has also revamped its wine offer over the past year, rolling out a swathe of new own-label lines.
