Carling Premier ‘was first with widget’
David Wigham Portfolio activation director, Coors Brewers Sir; I read with interest your article regarding Scottish & Newcastle’s new lager widget, available for cans of Foster’s and Kronenbourg 1664 (’S&N is first brewer to add widgets to lager’, The Grocer, 15 March, p74). The article appears to endorse S&N’s claim that it is the first brewer to add widgets to lager and goes on to say that this launch represents a milestone for the sector. Carling Premier has been available in a widget can since 1995 and continues to be enjoyed by drinkers across the UK today. Carling Premier is currently in healthy volume growth of 28% MAT.
