Upmarket off-licence chain Vom Fass is set to dramatically extend its presence in the UK with the launch of a franchise scheme.
Vom Fass sells wine, spirits and liqueurs directly from the cask as well as a range of oils and vinegars. It currently operates 11 outlets in the UK and 180 stores worldwide.
Its UK estate is mainly made up of concessions in department stores and shopping centres but Richard Mosconi, MD Vom Fass UK, said that the franchise outlets would be exclusively standalone stores.
Outlining his expansion plans, Mosconi said that Vom Fass would open three to five franchise stores by the end of the year. The first of these is due to open this month in Trentham, Staffordshire.
It is also in advanced negotiations with a franchisee for the first Northern Irish Vom Fass in Belfast.
Mosconi said: “If we open 15 stores in the UK next year I would be happy. The most important aspect of this scheme is getting the right franchisees.
“They could be representing the brand for the next 10 to 20 years.”
