Aldi is running a Baubles for Barnardo’s Christmas campaign in aid of the children’s charity.
The discounter will be selling a Barnardo’s Baubles Kit with six round or heart-shaped ceramic baubles plus paint pots and glitter to decorate them with, and string for hanging.
The kits go on sale in stores and online on Thursday (27 October) for £1.99 with 100% of profits going to Barbnardo’s, which is Aldi’s charity of the year and is celebrating its 150th anniversary.
Aldi CEO Matthew Barnes decorated his own baubles for the Baubles for the product launch, adding: “This is a fun activity that the family can get involved in this Christmas, and do some good for a very worthy charity, so we’re hoping everyone will join in and help us raise as much money as possible.”
Rio 2016 presenter Helen Skelton also endorsed the kits. “They’re fun to paint and I love that you can personalise them,” she said. “I based one design on my son’s footprints.”
Barnardo’s chief executive Javed Khan said some disadvantaged families it worked with could not afford to enjoy Christmas in the way most others took for granted.
“We are delighted to be a charity partner with Aldi,” he said. “The money raised by sales of the Barnardo’s Baubles Kit will help ensure we are always here for the most disadvantaged children, young people and families.”
