Asda forecourt

Asda is the UK’s favourite petrol station, according to a survey

Asda has been crowned the nation’s most popular petrol station, according to a survey of 1,500 Brits.

Drivers were quizzed on loyalty, service, convenience, and whether they would recommend it to friends.

Asda won the highest marks for customer advocacy, scoring almost 50% on the likelihood of customers to recommend it, closely followed by Sainsbury’s – which topped the chart for overall satisfaction.

The independent survey, carried out by Market Force, also found that supermarkets were the most popular places to fill up.

Two thirds (67%) of consumers said they opted to fill up at their local supermarket due to price and convenience, which Market Force said was consistent with findings in other countries, including the US and France.

“It’s no surprise to fuel brands that consumers care most about price, but what this research shows is that consumers also make decisions based on the service and products they receive at their favourite locations,” said a spokesman for Market Force.

The good news for Asda comes just eight months after it launched forecourt convenience stores in Manchester and Leeds.

Andy Peake, Asda’s petrol trading director said: “We’re proud to be named the UK’s Favourite Petrol Retailer. Our customers recognise that we offer lower priced fuel week in, week out. Our national price cap on fuel benefits everyone across the country, meaning that no one filling up at Asda is forced to pay a premium for their fuel because of where they live.

“The recent OFT report highlights what our customers have known for some time: when Asda comes to town, petrol prices tumble.
