Bang! Barry Scott is back! The constantly shouting Cillit Bang ambassador has returned to our screens. And he’s in a big purple fighter jet!

Only a stony heart would begrudge Barry’s return, especially after all those waggish online rumours that he was dead (odd, considering he’s fictional). He’s up to his usual tricks here, swinging a “solid lump of limescale” (a problem familiar to us all) through a bath of Bang to illustrate the speed at which it works - though an on-screen disclaimer dispiritingly reads ‘7 minutes’.

Still, this big, brassy ad is fun and makes its point effectively. And though the irony level is high, actor Neil Burgess plays it as robotically straight as ever. His killer catchphrase is just the icing on the cake.
