Wrigley would like us to believe its mentholicious chewing gum brand Airwaves does wonders for your breath - so, er, here’s an ad based on woodwind instruments!
It’s a big, jolly affair in which a series of borderline-offensive national stereotypes blow happily into their horns - an Alphorn for a lederhosened lovely, didgeridoo for an aboriginal chap, and a conch for a cheerful Hawaiian woman.
Their tune of choice is 2 Unlimited’s No Limit, which this year celebrates its 20th anniversary of being annoying. This makes the ad ‘retro’, and should make sure it appeals to ironic student types. But it also makes it pretty much unforgettable to anyone else, too. All together now: “techno techno techno techno!”
