Aldi is making the most of this summer of sport with its ‘Amazing’ ads. We had unexpectedly talented footballing granny ‘Naninho’ for Euro 2016. But now the Olympics is coming, and Aldi has a smart variation on its own theme.

Two bluff Yorkshire farmers are leaning on a gate, as farmers in Yorkshire do. For no obvious reason, one steps up and executes a series of impressive gymnastics moves, scissoring and flairing like a flat-capped Louis Smith. “That were amazing!” his pal proclaims. Not as much as 40% off a chicken at Aldi, deadpans our hero.

The stunt work looks great, the payoff is witty, and with a month to go until the Games begin, we’re looking forward to more of this sort of thing.
