Sir, It seems that despite the recurrence of stories regarding the need for businesses to drive sustainability, we continue to keep our heads down by avoiding the big environmental issues - possibly until it’s too late The world’s ticking time bomb.
The current media focus should act as a springboard for businesses to broaden the debate away from simple CSR measures, to one that encompasses a wider set of environmental, societal and economic concerns.
We can no longer afford to do the bare minimum, which is why I call on businesses to make 2018 the year of ‘Creating Shared Value’ and commit to generating economic value in a way that also produces value for society by addressing these challenges.
It is about implementing long-term plans that will make the world a better place, but also help businesses achieve a competitive advantage and sustained growth.
