“Deliveroo presents the ultimate gift… great food.” Of course, traditional Christmas food is all very well, but the delivery giant’s seasonal ad reminds us of our perennial faves – and tells us to treat ourselves this festive season.

Admittedly, it does so in a slightly messy way, with lines like “each Deliveroo is like your first bike… but pizza-shaped” (what?) and “your love of burgers overshadows everything” (sinister!). The tenuous links to Christmas are visual, too: we see some sushi being pulled around a Christmas tree by a toy train, for some reason.

Better are the ad’s cute cartoon characters and funny (if, again, nonsensical) sock-puppet payoff. Deliveroo cleverly positions itself as a ‘giver’ of gifts, too.
