Maltesers won acclaim in 2016 for its ‘Look on the Light Side’ ads that featured women with disabilities. Now it’s mining laughs from more under-represented females – menopausal and gay women.
In one ad, a lady tells her friends about a hot flush that led to her accidentally flashing her colleagues. She uses the chocs as illustrative props, leading to the kind of sharp, smart joke only a friend can make.
In the other, a woman claims discrimination is hindering her dating life. But not because she’s a lesbian or a vegetarian – because she’s an accountant. Her pals subvert homophobic language – “that’s not natural”, etc – to affectionately tease her.
Witty, warm, inclusive… more like this, please!
