Premier League football returned this week – and Mars Wrigley was ready for it, with a campaign starring beloved former commentator John Motson.
Motty stars in four ads filmed around the home, which see him apparently driven close to madness by the lack of footy. He commentates on the weather (the pouring ‘rain’ of his shower, that is) and notes the “absolute shambles” of the “formation” of crockery in his dishwasher. He even conducts an interview with his sheepskin coat – which we also see him wearing in bed, to the apparent chagrin of Mrs Motson.
The ads capture the mood of football fans perfectly, and provide a much-needed laugh – all while plugging the supplier’s ‘Sweetstake’ promotion, which supports the NET Coronavirus Appeal. Back of the net.
