We Brits don’t really know how embedded in Italian culture ‘La Passeggiata’ – an evening, social stroll – really is, but beer brand Peroni has run with it in its new TV ad.
Two women amble along the cobbled streets of an Italian city as a voiceover ruminates on how we often don’t appreciate the little things (like a walk, or a beer) until they are taken away. Peroni, coming from a country hit hard by coronavirus, wants to reassure us that “we will return to the streets where we live, where we love” and that “we will take back those moments”.
Of course, we Brits were never prevented from going out – but the ad nevertheless offers a welcome message of solidarity and optimism. If you don’t fancy a Peroni in the evening sun after watching it, you’re made of stone.
