Beardy northern softies Elbow are celebrating a successful first year for their Robinsons Brewery-made ale, named Build a Rocket Boys! in honour of their most recent album.

As proof of their hard-drinking rock ‘n’ roll credentials, the Mercury-winning Mancs wheeled out drummer Richard Jupp. “Robinsons are an old family company,” he argued. “They’re from the region. And we’ve been together 20 years, always with the same line-up. It fits nicely.”

As does the fact the ale is very wet, he forgot to mention.
