Sir: We were disappointed by the views expressed in the BBC Panorama programme The Truth About Sports Products, broadcast last week.

GSK was the only company in the programme to fully disclose its claims evidence, and more than 40 years of research and 85 peer-reviewed studies have supported the development of Lucozade Sport. Evidence supporting the performance benefits of carbohydrate-electrolyte drinks such as Lucozade Sport has been independently verified by the EFSA.
We take our responsibilities to consumers very seriously. We do not promote Lucozade Sport or Maxinutrition to children under 16 and label contents clearly.
We have total confidence in all our products and are committed to helping to develop a healthier, more active population.
